North America Innovative Lawyers Awards 2022

The Financial Times named Kirkland & Ellis the “Most Innovative Law Firm” in its 2022 North America Innovative Lawyers Report. Kirkland was recognized as a firm that “sets the bar for financial success” and one that “has also had a data strategy for nearly 10 years and continues to embrace new ways of practicing law.”

Kirkland was also named the winner in the “Innovation in Using Data” category for its “Funded” tool, a digital platform that streamlines, simplifies and secures fund subscriptions.

Additionally, the Firm was recognized in the following categories:

  • Innovation in Equity and Racial Justice (Standout Firm): Represented a coalition of students from Maryland’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in successful litigation against the state for negatively impacting the colleges’ programming and funding. In May 2021, after 12 years, the coalition was awarded a $577 million settlement.
  • Innovation in People and Skills Management (Standout Firm): LearningLink, a platform for attorney and staff learning journeys in support of employee development. Learning Link enables the Firm’s learning and development team to promote and manage training modules, as well as to track engagement.
  • Most Innovative Leader (Finalist): Jon Ballis
  • Most Innovative Practitioner (Finalist): John O’Neil

The annual North America Innovative Lawyers Awards spotlight the key trends and transformations taking place in the legal sector over the past 12 months.
