Leading Real Estate Lawyer Victoria Shusterman Joins Kirkland

Kirkland & Ellis is pleased to announce that Victoria Shusterman has joined the Firm as a partner in the Real Estate Practice Group.

Ballis, Chairman of Kirkland’s Executive Committee. “As credit markets have shifted with alternative asset managers playing a significantly larger role, Vicky’s knowledge and capabilities will be invaluable to our existing client base and complement our strong real estate team.”

Ms. Shusterman focuses her practice on commercial real estate finance. Her work includes representing credit funds, private equity firms, domestic and foreign commercial banks and insurance companies in commercial real estate financing transactions, including mortgage and mezzanine financings; preferred equity investments; permanent and bridge loan originations; construction loans; loan participations, syndications (including loan sales) and other co-lender arrangements; workouts and restructurings. 

She has experience representing clients in financing transactions across a variety of asset types, including industrial, mixed-use, hotel, multi-family, retail and office properties throughout the U.S.

“Vicky has substantial experience handling complex finance matters involving real estate,” said Kirkland real estate partner Jonathan Schechter. “Her arrival helps expand our debt capabilities in the real estate area and we are excited to have her on the team.”

Ms. Shusterman is ranked as a leading New York real estate finance practitioner by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. She is also recognized as a leading real estate attorney in The Best Lawyers in America.

She holds degrees from Northwestern University and Washington University School of Law. She joins Kirkland from Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where she was a partner.
