Our construction team has acted as lead advisers to developers and financiers on high-profile projects that have fundamentally changed the geographic, social, and economic landscapes of the countries in which they have been delivered. We practice across all major jurisdictions, including the Middle East, North America, Asia, Europe and Australia, and sectors, including:

  • renewable energy, including wind (onshore and offshore), solar, green hydrogen and ammonia, and hydroelectricity facilities;
  • transport infrastructure;
  • sporting, healthcare, and social infrastructure;
  • battery storage facilities;
  • desalination, water treatment and transmission, and waste infrastructure;
  • traditional energy and chemicals; and
  • data centers and tech facilities.

The team has extensive commercial and legal understanding of market practices, regulatory and legislative frameworks, and contracting models required for major project procurement, construction and delivery, including:

  • engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and traditional design and construction contracts;
  • public-private partnership (PPP), concession, and build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) arrangements;
  • services contracts, including operation and maintenance (O&M), design services, and project management agreements;
  • supply and procurement contracts;
  • and all forms of modern and relationship-based contracting models, including multi-stage (ECI) contracting, delivery partnering, construction and project management, and alliancing.

Our team is located around the global network and has particular experience in working with Gigaproject developers and sponsors in Saudi Arabia, with direct experience serving as key adviser on many of the most complex infrastructure and energy projects delivered by Gigaprojects and other Vision2030 projects in the Middle East. This tailored Saudi experience in combination with Kirkland’s global platform enable our attorneys to provide seamless and round-the-clock service to clients at all stages of the project lifecycle.
