For more than 15 years, Mr. Drake has represented companies whose products are subject to air pollution control regulation by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and various State government agencies, such as the California Air Resources Board ("ARB"). Mr. Drake's work includes the defense of enforcement actions in federal and State courts and before the agencies, other litigation involving regulations, and the representation of clients in agency rulemaking processes and in Congressional matters. Mr. Drake's automotive-sector clients include General Motors Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation, as well as the trade associations that represent the leading U.S. and international automotive OEMs. In the non-automotive sector, his clients include Briggs & Stratton Corporation (the leading manufacturer of off-road engines). Mr. Drake has practiced in this area since coming to Kirkland & Ellis in 1984. Mr. Drake has been recognized in every edition of Chambers USA, America's Leading Lawyers for Business from 2005 to 2009. The 2009 guide described him as "a leader in crafting winning arguments."
