Mr. Hammes joined Kirkland & Ellis in 1985 and has been a partner since 1991. He is the Chairman of the 15-person Worldwide Management Executive Committee. Mr. Hammes is also a founding partner of the San Francisco office opened in 2003 and the recently opened Palo Alto office. He splits his time between Kirkland's Chicago and San Francisco offices. Mr. Hammes also led the expansion into Asia with the opening of the Hong Kong office in 2006 and the recently opened Shanghai office.
Jeff Hammes has concentrated his practice on structuring and negotiating complex business transactions including mergers, acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, going private transactions, formation of private equity funds, and executive compensation, handling transactions which range in size from several million dollars to several billion dollars.
