Professional Profile

James N. Nowacki is a partner of Kirkland & Ellis in the Chicago office engaged in a national practice of commercial litigation.  He is a senior trial partner with areas of concentration that include construction litigation for owners, developers, contractors and suppliers for complex industrial, transportation, office building and manufacturing projects, as well as professional liability litigation involving architects, engineers and others in the construction field.  Mr. Nowacki's focus also includes professional liability defense of attorneys and others in professional practice.  He tries jury, bench and arbitration cases involving trade secrets, breaches of commercial contracts, biotech industry disputes and other areas involving complex technology and scientific issues.  His practice spans the federal and state courts across the country with work extending as well to Europe, Asia and the Middle East.  He has provided contract drafting assistance, advice and troubleshooting on project problems on a host of different client issues, has been chosen by his peers as a top commercial litigator in Illinois and in 1994 received the President's Award from the American Institute of Architects.
