Adam Phillips is a partner in Kirkland's corporate transactional group.
Mr. Phillips began his career as an attorney in Kirkland's corporate department with a focus on venture capital and private equity investments, leveraged buyouts and corporate mergers and acquisitions. As detailed below, he then spent 13 years in the corporate sector as both an in-house counsel and a senior M&A executive. Having returned to Kirkland in 2006, Mr. Phillips now focuses his practice on private equity and growth equity investments and other complex business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, typically involving technology companies.
As Senior Corporate Counsel for Blockbuster Entertainment during the company's dynamic global expansion and diversification in the mid-90s, Mr. Phillips was responsible for negotiating all of the company's acquisitions, investments, joint ventures and strategic alliances. Later, as General Counsel of Blockbuster, Mr. Phillips was named one of the 45 most influential in-house lawyers in the country under the age of 45 by CCM – The American Lawyer's Corporate Counsel Magazine.
As Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategic Planning for Clear Channel Entertainment, the largest live entertainment company in the world, Mr. Phillips oversaw the company's numerous acquisitions and investments in the music, theatre, sports, motor sports and ticketing industries.
Mr. Phillips has overseen more than 200 investment and acquisition transactions in his 20-year career.
