Professional Profile

Jennifer Clarke-Smith is a Partner in the Antitrust Practice Group based in the Chicago office. Jennifer has significant experience advising clients on the antitrust aspects of mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, with a particular focus on the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) premerger notification filing requirements and clearance process.

Jennifer regularly represents clients before the Federal Trade Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice during preliminary investigations and in response to Second Requests. Her practice has included transactions in a wide variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, automotive, consumer products, defense, software, financial services and healthcare.

Jennifer also frequently advises clients on merger clearance strategy for international and cross-border transactions, coordinating international merger control filings and clearance efforts.

Prior to joining Kirkland & Ellis, Jennifer worked as an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission, where she participated in all aspects of preparing antitrust cases for the Bureau of Competition, Mergers I.
