Award Immigration Equality

Safe Haven Pro Bono Award

Kirkland was one of five firms honored with 2012 Safe Haven Awards from Immigration Equality at a ceremony in New York. The awards recognize law firms that have gone above and beyond to win refuge for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and HIV-positive asylum seekers. Kirkland has represented more than 20 Immigration Equality clients during its pro bono partnership with the organization and took on especially challenging cases in 2011, including that of a formerly detained gay Salvadorian man in a binational relationship and three cases with one-year filing deadline issues.
