Champions of Democracy Award

Common Cause New York honored Kirkland and several other law firms with the Champions of Democracy Award at the organization's annual dinner in New York City. Common Cause recognized the firms for their dedication in advancing and defending the right to vote through the Election Protection program, the nation's largest nonpartisan voter protection coalition. For the 2012 election, Kirkland's New York office hosted a call center, staffed by approximately 250 volunteers who answered voters' questions called into a nationwide hotline. Common Cause New York is in the forefront of the movement for independent redistricting, campaign finance and ethics reform, corporate accountability and elections that are honest, inclusive and verifiable.
