In April 2014, The American Lawyer measured the success of the transactional practices in the nation's leading law firms in the annual survey, "Corporate Scorecard." Kirkland's involvement as counsel on significant deals in 2013 includes the following:

• Ranked 1st as principal counsel by volume of deals in the “M&A” category
• Ranked 1st as counsel by value of deals in the “Private Equity” category
• Ranked 2nd as counsel by volume of deals in the “Private Equity” category
• Ranked 3rd as issuer’s counsel by volume of deals in the “Corporate Debt: (high-yield)” category
• Ranked 4th as issuer’s counsel by value of deals in the “Corporate Debt: (high-yield)” category
• Named in the 1st, 3rd and 10th largest bankruptcy filings of 2013 -- Cengage Learning Inc. with $7.5 billion in assets, Dex One Corp. with $2.8 billion in assets and Revel AC, Inc. with $1.2 billion in assets
