Kirkland & Ellis Names Atif Khawaja as Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow

Kirkland & Ellis has chosen litigation partner Atif Khawaja to be a member of the 2015 class of Fellows, participating in a landmark program created by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) to identify, train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.

“This is a great honor for Atif,” said Jeffrey C. Hammes, Chairman of Kirkland’s Global Management Executive Committee. “He joins a select group of experienced attorneys from diverse backgrounds who have been recognized for their potential as leaders in their organizations.”

According to LCLD President Robert J. Grey, Jr., the LCLD Fellows Program offers participants “an extraordinarily rich year of relationship-building, virtual and in-person training, peer-group projects and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership.”

Mr. Khawaja is a litigation partner with broad experience litigating high-stakes commercial and intellectual property disputes across a variety of industries. He has successfully litigated matters before courts and arbitration panels across the country, addressing claims of patent infringement, unfair competition, fraud, breach of contract, fiduciary duties and other complex matters. He represents Fortune 100 companies, Internet and other new economy companies as well as private companies and individuals. Mr. Khawaja also co-chairs Kirkland’s Diversity Committee and sits on its Recruiting and Pro Bono Management Committees.
