Global PERE Awards

Kirkland was named the Law Firm of the Year in North America (Fund Formation) at the 2014 Private Equity Real Estate (PERE) Global Awards. PERE noted that, as part of a “stellar year,” Kirkland’s private funds practice represented six sponsors in the final closings of new funds with aggregate commitments of more than $5 billion. Kirkland was especially recognized for its work on Starwood Capital Group’s Global Opportunity Fund X, which “became one of the fastest and largest first closes in history” when it reportedly drew $2.1 billion in commitments in three months, before holding a subsequent close of $4.2 billion in October. Award winners were determined by more than 50,000 votes from readers of Private Equity Real Estate and subscribers of PERENews.com.
