This guide -- which is designed to reflect market opinion -- contains a view of the firms and attorneys who are considered leaders in their field.

The Firm: The trusts and estates group advises individuals and families on wealth preservation, transfer and management. The client roster here consists primarily of private investors, entrepreneurs, highly compensated business executives and wealthy families. The firm also counsels individual and corporate fiduciaries on trust and estate planning and administration, and assists both public and private charities. Litigation, such as will challenges, contested accountings and contested tax matters is also part of the portfolio here.

The Lawyers: David Handler focuses his practice on trust and estate planning and administration. Reflecting the firm's strong private equity practice, he also undertakes a significant amount of work for the principals of venutre capital and LBO firms.
