In Chambers' 2006 review of national legal talent in the area of "Corporate/M&A," our Firm and our lawyers are listed among the best in the country.

Chambers' comments:

New York Ranking: 5

The Firm: This seven-office, Chicago-headquartered firm continues its march into New York with a steadily growing profile due to the volume and high caliber of attorneys and deals undertaken. Offering a "quality service," clients point to an incredibly responsive group that "will do whatever necessary to accommodate our needs in terms of timing." A powerful global private equity practice is an additional trump card for the firm. Recent work highlights include advising Merrill Lynch, financial adviser to Constellation Brands, in Constellation's $1.36 billion cash-and-debt buyout of Robert Mondavi. The firm also represented Coors Brewing in its $6.7 billion merger with Molson and acted for Bain Capital in its bid with KKR and Vornado Realty Trust for Toys 'R' Us.

The Lawyers: Clients find Stephen Fraidin "an invaluable source of advice - you can rely on his word and he is also forthright." He represented the special committee of Net2Phone in a buyout bid from its largest shareholder, IDT. He also acted for Forstmann Little & Co in its $750 million acquisition of International Management Group and $1.6 billion acquisition of 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide.

Clients/Work Highlights: Belden CDT; Coors Brewing; Dow Chemical; Forstmann Little & Co; GenCorp; Houlihan Lockey; Merrill Lynch; Net2Phone; Solutia; Peter J Solomon Company.
