Corporate Scorecard

Every year, The American Lawyer publishes its feature, Corporate Scorecard, in an effort to chart the success of various corporate law departments in the nation's leading law firms.  This April, they identified the biggest national corporate deals of 2001.  Kirkland & Ellis was mentioned in the following categories:

• EchoStar Communications Corporation's $26,643,000,000 merger with Hughes Electronics Corporation, a subsidiary of General Motors, was listed as the second largest "Top M&A Deals Worldwide" in 2001. Kirkland & Ellis was counsel for General Motors.

• In the "Corporate Debt: High-Yield Debt" category, Kirkland & Ellis ranked fifth by number of issues.

• Kirkland & Ellis was also recognized as bankruptcy counsel in the top 20 "Largest Bankruptcies Filed" for its representation of W.R. Grace.
