Kirkland & Ellis Lures Three Partners from Mayer Brown

"Three partners who represent private investment funds in major deals in the U.S. have left Mayer, Brown LLP in Chicago to join Kirkland & Ellis LLP here.

(Bruce L.) Gelman, 40, a tax partner, was joined in the move to Kirkland & Ellis by Thomas A. Geraghty, 37, also a tax partner, and Joshua P. Hanna, 32, a real estate partner.

'What's very exciting to me,' Gelman said, is that, in his view, 'Kirkland has the top-ranked tax practice in Chicago. They also dominate the funds practice and private equity.

'I thought about where I wanted to be for the next 20 years of practice. I felt very strongly that Kirkland represents a much better platform for me and my clients,' he said."
