In April 2010, The American Lawyer measured the success of the transactional practices in the nation's leading law firms in the annual survey, "Corporate Scorecard." Kirkland's involvement as counsel on significant deals in 2009 includes the following:

  • Ranked 2nd by proceeds in the "High-Yield Debt" category in the role of issuer's counsel
  • Ranked 8th by number of issues in the "High-Yield Debt" category in the role of issuer's counsel
  • Named in the fourth and fifth largest bankruptcy emergences of 2009 — Charter Communications, Inc. with $13.9 billion in assets and Lear Corporation with $6.9 billion in assets
  • Named in the fifth and eighth largest bankruptcy filings of 2009 — General Growth Properties, Inc. with $29.6 billion in assets and Charter Communications, Inc. with $13.9 billion in assets
