Phillip V. DeFedele is a corporate associate in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Phillip focuses on healthcare and life sciences regulatory and transactional matters. He regularly counsels private equity funds, strategic investors, and healthcare and life sciences companies in connection with mergers, acquisitions, sales, and divestitures. Phillip also counsels clients on day-to-day regulatory matters impacting companies operating in these spaces.
Phillip has experience advising life sciences companies and vendors on regulatory matters that arise throughout the product life cycle. These include research and development, advertising and promotion, pharmacovigilance, patient assistance programs, and interactions with healthcare professionals and organizations. He has served as regulatory counsel on both buy- and sell-side transactions in the life sciences industry. Phillip has worked on-site at various pharmaceutical companies assuming roles in advancing global clinical trial programs and supporting product launches.
Phillip also serves as regulatory counsel on transactions in the healthcare industry, such as healthcare IT platforms, pharmacies, clinical laboratories, physician platforms, and healthcare facilities and other ancillary service providers. He counsels clients in this space on matters relating to fraud and abuse, HIPAA, corporate practice of medicine and learned professions, fee-splitting, and compliance.
