MDL 2179: In re Oil Spill by the Oil Rig Deepwater Horizon (E.D. La.). Counsel for BP in the multidistrict litigation arising out of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, including serving as settlement counsel for BP in class action settlement approved by the federal district court to resolve claims by businesses and individuals in the Gulf Coast States alleging economic loss, property damage, loss of subsistence resources related to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
MDL 2543: In re General Motors LLC Ignition Switch Litigation (S.D.N.Y.). Counsel for General Motors LLC in product liability and economic loss litigation relating to vehicle recalls.
MDL 2591: In re Syngenta AG MIR162 Corn Litigation (D. Kan.). Counsel for Syngenta in multi-forum litigation involving hundreds of class action and individual lawsuits alleging damages due to the commercialization of a genetically modified corn trait in the United States.
Bund et al. v. Safeguard Properties Management, LLC (W.D. Wash.). Counsel for Safeguard in consumer fraud class action; obtained dismissal following decertification of 19,000 plaintiff class.
Armstrong v. Cook County, Ill. (N.D. Ill.). Represented pre-trial detainee and served as senior trial counsel in Section 1983 conditions of confinement case. Jury verdict returned in favor of client.
General Motors/Dealer Arbitration Proceedings. Counsel for General Motors in numerous matters concerning General Motors dealers’ seeking reinstatement after General Motors’ bankruptcy pursuant to Section 747 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2010 (Public Law 111–117).
In re General Growth Properties, Inc. (S.D.N.Y. 2009). Represented General Growth project-level debtors at trial in challenge to Chapter 11 filings. Bench trial opinion in favor of clients.
In re UAL Corp. (Bankr. N.D. Ill.). Represented UAL in post-bankruptcy discrimination, retaliation, and whistleblower cases.
Ford Motor Co. v. Navistar Int’l Transp. Corp. (Mich. Cir. Ct.). Represented Navistar in a breach of contract case filed by Ford Motor Company, where Ford sought more than $1 billion in damages.
Natali v. Pa. Ins. Dep’t ex rel. Allstate Ins. Co. (Pa. Commw. Ct.). Represented Allstate Insurance Company involving statutory challenge to client termination of insurance agency for poor performance. Administrative law judge affirmed dismissal of claims asserted against client, holding Pennsylvania statute restricting termination of certain types of agencies did not apply to termination of independent contractor insurance agency, which ruling was subsequently affirmed by court, prompting subsequent favorable settlement of related lawsuit.
Avandia Products Liability Litigation. Represented GlaxoSmithKline plc in connection with claims that its diabetes drug Avandia may increase the risk of heart attacks or cause other adverse health effects.
