Innovatio v. Cisco Systems, Motorola Solutions, NETGEAR, et al. (N.D. Ill. and MDL): Defended suppliers of Internet wireless routing products in complex multi-district action concerning patents pertaining to 802.11-standardized wireless technology. Court determined that Plaintiff’s claim was limited to a RAND rate of less than 10 cents for each product. The case was hailed as highly favorable to technology companies and consumers and received worldwide media attention.
Intellectual Capital Consulting, Ltd. vs. Hyundai Motor Company et al. (E.D. Tex.)/In the Matter of Certain Vehicular Smartwatch Systems, Related Software, Components Thereof, and Product Containing the Same (337-TA-3093): Defended Porsche in patent suit related to vehicle control via smartphone apps. Achieved an early dismissal in District Court case and forced Plaintiff to withdraw its ITC Complaint.
Intellectual Ventures I LLC, et al. v. Capital One Financial Corp., et al. (D. Md.): Defended Capital One in a patent litigation action regarding database management technology. Successfully challenged validity of the patent both at the District Court (under §101) and at the USPTO through an inter partes review proceeding (under §103). In a total win, invalidity under §101 was upheld on appeal to the Federal Circuit and subsequently, the appeal from the invalidity determination by the USPTO was voluntarily dismissed.
In the Matter of Certain Mobile Communications and Computer Devices and Components Thereof (337-TA-704): Represented a leading computer, mobile device and media player company in bringing an ITC action against Nokia as a part of the on-going smartphone industry litigations. Client reached a favorable settlement post-trial.
