Alex Hughes is a litigation associate in the Houston office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Alex practices complex commercial litigation, emphasizing white collar crime, securities litigation, and products liability defense. Having deployed to Mosul, Iraq in a counterinsurgency mission prior to becoming a lawyer, Alex draws upon his experience in high-stakes, high-pressure environments to deliver clients level-headed counsel and top-tier results when failure is simply not an option.

Alex’s criminal practice has a strong transnational focus. He has represented individuals and entities in government investigations and prosecutions involving export-control regulations, money laundering, manslaughter, federal environmental laws, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. On the civil side, he has represented plaintiffs and defendants in disputes ranging from seven to ten figures in value.
