John is a partner in Kirkland’s Investment Funds Group who focuses on the representation of investment managers in all aspects of their business and operations, with a particular emphasis on formation of private investment funds, and in structuring and execution of secondary transactions.
He represents sponsors in the formation of private funds covering a wide range of sectors, geographies and strategies. He also regularly advises private equity sponsors on complex strategic minority and preferred equity investments and works with fund sponsors to structure firm ownership and operations, succession planning, spin-outs and executive transitions, and incentive arrangements.
John has extensive experience representing buyer, sellers and market intermediaries in connection with a wide range of secondary transactions, including portfolio sales, direct secondaries, preferred equity financings, multi and single asset restructurings, tender offers and synthetic transactions.
Additionally, John represents institutional investors in the review and negotiation of portfolio investments and financings, including investments in private equity, credit, energy, natural resources, real estate, venture capital and hedge funds as well as co-investments, funds of one and separately managed accounts.
