Since joining Kirkland, Nessa has worked on the following matters:

• Represented a claimant in its successful proceedings to revoke a patent relating to MRI-safe disk magnets (recognised in The American Lawyer Litigation Daily’s “Litigator of the Week).
• Represented a claimant in patent infringement litigation involving warehouse storage solutions (ranked in The Lawyer’s ‘Top 20 Cases to Watch’ for 2021).
• Represented a major telecoms client in defence of FRAND claims and patent infringement claims relating to 4G and 5G technology, including physical layer technology relating to resource allocation and codebook subset restriction.
• Represented a major e-cigarettes client with respect to numerous patent infringement actions in courts around Europe, including the UK High Court.

Prior to joining Kirkland, Nessa worked on the following matters:

• Advised on a patent revocation action relating to an antiepileptic drug.
• Assisted on a successful claim for an Arrow declaration on behalf of a major pharmaceutical company.
• Represented a UK-based innovative diagnostics company, in a patent litigation relating to non-invasive prenatal testing.
• Represented a telecoms company in its defence of a patent for the use of ‘keepalive’ packets of data.
• Advised on a trade mark infringement and passing off dispute relating to a global broadcaster at the High Court and validity dispute at the UKIPO.
• Patent action concerning high pressure water ‘cutting extinguishers’ used by emergency services.
• Defended a claim for patent infringement in respect of a number of biotechnology patents on behalf of a molecular diagnostics company.
• Advised on and conducted enforcement action against the misuse of a major global retailer in domain names for third party websites.
• Advised a UK based media production company on the defence of a trade mark infringement and passing off allegation, leading to successful settlement.
• Managed an enforcement program for a globally recognised board game in relation to its trade mark, including a dispute with a major retailer resulting in settlement.
