James Learner is a corporate partner in the London office of Kirkland & Ellis International LLP. Jim’s practice focuses on complex transactions, principally representing private equity groups in their leveraged buyout and growth capital investing. Jim advises clients in respect to all of their corporate needs, including their acquisitions, financings, equity investments, fund formation and general corporate matters.
Mr. Learner joined Kirkland & Ellis in 1987 in Chicago and relocate to the London office in 2000. He was a partner in London until 2012 when he left to join HGGC, LLC, a middle-market private equity fund based in Palo Alto, CA, as a managing partner on the investment side of the business. Jim returned to Kirkland’s London office in February 2015.
Jim’s clients include Apax Partners, Bain Capital, Blackstone, Core Equity Holdings, EW Healthcare Partners, HGGC, H.I.G. Capital, L-GAM Advisors, Rhone Group, SK Capital, Summit Partners, and others.
In addition to his client work, Jim previously served on the Firm’s 15-member Global Management Committee, as well as a number of other Firm administrative committees.
