Michael Mahoney is an associate in the San Francisco office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP working in the Environmental Transactions Practice Group. Michael primarily conducts environmental due diligence for clients involved in complex transactions concerning the acquisition and divestiture of large businesses across a range of industries. Michael also drafts and negotiates environmental provisions in purchase, lease, and credit agreements; retains and oversees environmental consultants; provides advice on environmental regulatory compliance and exposure to environmental liabilities; and assists with acquiring environmental insurance policies.
Michael also maintains an active pro bono practice, which includes extensive work in Southeast Asia. Michael has drafted portions of Cambodia’s Environmental Code relating to the protection of the environment during extractive industry operations; and co-led workshops on environmental and social impact assessments in Myanmar.
