Aaron Newell is an associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP working in the Environmental Transactional Practice Group. Aaron counsels clients in all areas of environmental law across a variety of industries, primarily in the context of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, securities offerings, financing transactions, bankruptcies, and real estate transactions. He conducts environmental due diligence, manages environmental consultants, negotiates purchase and sale agreements, lease agreements and credit agreements, provides advice on environmental regulatory compliance and exposure to environmental liabilities, and assists in the procurement of environmental insurance policies. Clients value Aaron for his attention to detail and ability to clearly explain complex environmental issues.
In addition to his environmental practice, Aaron maintains an active pro bono practice, which includes advocacy on behalf of the National Women’s Law Center, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Legal Aid Justice Center.
