Overview

Jimmy Xi is an associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts.

Before joining Kirkland, Jimmy served as a law clerk to Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh of the United States Supreme Court and Judge Jeffrey S. Sutton of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He also served as an appellate attorney for the Civil Division of the Department of Justice. In his role at the DOJ, Jimmy briefed and argued cases in the federal courts of appeals and prepared draft briefs for the Solicitor General for filing in the United States Supreme Court. He defended federal agencies, cabinet officers, and other government officials in challenges to major policy initiatives, including those related to the military, national security, religious liberty, immigration, rail and air safety, food safety, and intellectual property.
