Chambers' comments:

Ranking: 3

The Firm: The firm regularly appears advising sponsors in secured and unsecured financings, leveraged acquisitions and mezzanine financings. The venture capital field remains a key strength and partners, such as Chris Butler, are frequently found advising "a tonne of clients" on acquisition financing. In the securitization sphere, the firm has a growing team of "bright, technically proficient people," principally known for advising issuers. The team has advised on a range of asset classes including retail and wholesale auto loans, credit cards, trade receivables, and equipment leases.

The Lawyers: Kenneth Morrison is highly respected for his work advising issuers in securitization transactions. Sources endorsed his "creative" approach, adding: "He knows how to get a deal done." Partner in charge of the firm's asset securitization practice, he advises GMAC as issuer and has handled various asset classes for originators, underwriters and conduit sponsors. John Stassen stands out for his experience in the regulated futures markets. He is principal outside counsel to several large futures and trading organizations, and has undertaken significant litigation under the Commodity Exchange Act.

The Clients: In addition to a range of corporate borrower clients, the firm has advised Bank One, World Omni and GMAC on securitization matters.
