Brexit: Would ‘No Deal’ Be a Big Deal for UK Exporters?

Recently published materials from the UK’s Export Control Joint Unit and Department for International Trade discuss how exporting controlled goods would be affected if the UK leaves the European Union without a Brexit deal. 

Kirkland partner Anthony Rapa notes that “while the overall impact of Brexit on UK export controls may turn out to be limited, ‘there is a greater chance of divergence between the UK and EU regimes in a “no deal” scenario.’” He discusses the three key areas in which Brexit could affect UK export controls.
