Kirkland & Ellis partner Barack Echols is named one of Savoy Magazine’s 2015 Most Influential Black Lawyers in the publication’s spring issue. The list includes the “best of the best” of black lawyers who are partners within leading national law firms and also corporate counsel from Fortune 1000 corporations.
Mr. Echols is a litigation partner in Kirkland’s Chicago office. He concentrates his practice in antitrust and complex commercial litigation and was named an “Illinois Super Lawyer” in antitrust by Super Lawyers and a leading lawyer for business by Chambers USA.
Mr. Echols has represented Fortune 500 clients in arbitration, bankruptcy courts, and federal and state courts throughout the United States in class actions, contract disputes and other civil litigation.
Mr. Echols serves on Kirkland’s Diversity and Recruiting Committees. He also sits on the board of directors of Chicago Scholars and the advisory board of the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession, is a LINK Unlimited mentor, and is a Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and American Bar Foundation fellow.
Previously, Mr. Echols served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in Military Intelligence and produced a current events radio talk show.
Mr. Echols has a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in the social sciences from the University of Chicago. He holds a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
