Kirkland & Ellis LLP is pleased to announce that Karen Lee has joined the Firm’s Palo Alto office as a partner in the Tax Practice Group.
“Karen is an outstanding tax attorney with impressive experience advising on sophisticated and complex transactions,” said Jeffrey C. Hammes, Chairman of Kirkland’s Global Management Executive Committee. “Her experience will bolster the Firm’s ability to provide creative tax solutions and comprehensive transactional guidance to clients in the Bay Area and across the Firm.”
Ms. Lee counsels a wide variety of clients regarding the tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, private equity transactions, bankruptcy and financial restructurings, private and public securities offerings, and real estate and REIT transactions.

Ms. Lee holds a J.D., with honors, from the University of Chicago Law School and a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Washington. She was previously counsel in the Palo Alto office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
