Overview

Peter Stach is a corporate partner in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. His practice focuses on advising private equity firms and public and private companies on complex M&A and corporate transactions, including domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, corporate carve-out transactions, recapitalizations, leveraged buyouts, "going-private" transactions and venture capital and growth equity investments. Peter has handled matters for numerous private equity sponsors including Thoma Bravo, Paine Schwartz Partners and SK Capital, among others, as well as many of their portfolio companies. Over the course of his career, Peter has represented clients in transactions focused on the software, technology, media and telecommunications, specialty chemicals and life sciences industries.

At The Deal's annual Deal Awards in 2021, Kirkland was recognized for “Private Equity Deal of the Year (Large Cap)” for Thoma Bravo’s sale of Ellie Mae to Intercontinental Exchange, where Peter served as co-lead counsel on the matter. Kirkland was also recognized in 2020 for “Private Equity Deal of the Year” for Digicert’s sale to TA Associates and Clearlake Capital Group, where Peter served as co-lead counsel on the matter.
