Overview

Michael Wester is an investments funds partner in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Michael concentrates his practice on representing private fund sponsors in connection with structuring, negotiating, forming and operating private investment funds, including real estate funds, buyout funds and debt funds. Michael represents sponsors ranging from first-time sponsors to well-established sponsors with billions of assets under management. Throughout his career, Michael has helped sponsors launch various forms of investment vehicles, including open-end and permanent capital products, closed-end funds, club deals and separately managed accounts, and has been involved in a wide range of complex matters across the private investment fund space, including firmwide and fund-specific economic, governance, transactional and operational matters.
