Kirkland & Ellis Restructuring Partner James H.M. Sprayregen Appointed President of INSOL International

The International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals (INSOL) has appointed Kirkland & Ellis LLP restructuring partner James H.M. Sprayregen to be its next president.

INSOL International is a worldwide federation of national associations of accountants and lawyers who specialize in turnaround and insolvency. Formed in 1982 and located in London, INSOL has grown in stature to become the leading insolvency association in the world with more than 43 member associations and more than 9,000 professional members.

INSOL's board of directors has elected Mr. Sprayregen to serve a two-year term as president of the executive committee, during which he will be the association's leader and spokesperson. The president's primary responsibility is to lead INSOL in achieving its mission and to develop and deliver its strategy.

"I am honored by the appointment," said Mr. Sprayregen, "and I am looking forward to representing INSOL for the next two years as an important voice on restructuring and insolvency matters to the business and financial communities."

INSOL with its member associations takes a leadership role in international turnaround, insolvency and related credit issues, facilitates the exchange of information and ideas, and encourages greater international cooperation and communication among the insolvency profession, credit community and related constituencies.

Mr. Sprayregen is recognized as one of the country's outstanding restructuring lawyers and has recently represented numerous multinational public and private corporations in many of the largest out-of-court restructuring matters and Chapter 11 cases, including GGPLP L.L.C., Innkeepers USA Trust, Japan Airlines Corporation, The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) and MSR Resort Golf Course LLC. From 2006 to 2008, he served as co-head of Goldman Sachs' Restructuring Group. Mr. Sprayregen rejoined Kirkland in December 2008 and currently serves as a member of the Firm's 15-attorney Global Management Executive Committee.
