Kirkland Recognized at Lambda Legal Bon Foster Event

On April 23, 2014, Lambda Legal hosted its Bon Foster event in Chicago, which celebrated the organization’s work on myriad LGBT and HIV/AIDS issues. The event is the most well-attended LGBT event in the city, with approximately 900 attendees.
 
Lambda’s National Marriage Project Director Camilla Taylor spoke at length about Kirkland’s pro bono work for marriage equality, including a lawsuit in federal court on behalf of a class of same-sex couples in Illinois who wished to marry before the mandated date of June 1, 2014. Earlier this year, the court granted the motion and declared the Illinois marriage ban unconstitutional, thereby permitting all same-sex couples to marry immediately.
