America's Leading Lawyers for Business 2006: Litigation

Chambers & Partners has compiled their independent and objective list of America's Leading Lawyers for Business based on comments gathered from thousands of interviews with clients and lawyers from Maine to Hawaii. This guide -- which is designed to reflect market opinion -- contains a view of the firms and attorneys who are considered leaders in their field.

In Chambers' 2006 review of national legal talent in the area of "Litigation," our Firm and our lawyers are listed among the best in the country.

Chambers' comments:

District of Columbia Ranking: 2

The Firm: This international firm is famous for its litigation culture. "Excellent for top-range cases," the DC group is particularly noted for its strengths in antitrust, defamation, IP and products liability. The huge scope of the practice, however, means that the team can muster support in any area of law. Recent matters of note include representing Barr Laboratories in patent challenges and antitrust claims surrounding the manufacturing and distribution of oral contraceptives, as well as other antibiotic drugs. On the securities and white-collar side, the group represents Fannie Mae in its ongoing SEC investigation.

The Lawyers: Foremost among this "tough group of seasoned litigators" is Thomas Yannucci. He divides his time between management and litigation, but commentators report that he is still very busy with his caseload and "gets a lot of play in high-profile areas." He represented Honeywell in connection with its role in the over-budget Big Dig tunnel system in Boston and has been described as "a hard-nosed advocate who is not afraid to aggressively state his case."

Clients/Work Highlights: Siemens; Honeywell; Barr Laboratories; Bear Stearns and ConocoPhillips.
