White Collar Criminal Defense Attorney Henry J. DePippo Joins Kirkland & Ellis LLP

Kirkland & Ellis LLP is pleased to announce that Henry J. DePippo has joined the Firm's Litigation Practice Group as a partner in its New York office. Mr. DePippo will play a key role in Kirkland's white collar criminal defense and securities enforcement practice.

"As a former federal prosecutor with 19 years of experience in private practice, Henry is a valuable addition to the Firm's burgeoning white collar and securities enforcement group," said Thomas D. Yannucci, chair of Kirkland's Worldwide Management Committee and partner in the Washington, D.C., office. "He will play an important role in the expansion of the practice and we welcome him to the Firm."

Mr. DePippo joins the Firm from the New York office of Nixon Peabody, where from 1996 to 2009 he was a partner in the litigation and white collar practice areas. He concentrates his practice in the areas of government investigations, white collar criminal defense, internal investigations and complex commercial litigation, including False Claims Act litigation. He has extensive experience in criminal litigation and has represented corporations, corporate executives and other individuals in grand jury investigations and other state and federal criminal proceedings related to allegations of securities fraud, health care fraud, tax fraud, antitrust, government contracts, public corruption, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and environmental violations.

Prior to joining Nixon Peabody, Mr. DePippo served six years with the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York as Senior Trial Counsel. While with the office, he was responsible for the investigation and successful prosecution of the 1993 terrorist bombing of the World Trade Center. Mr. DePippo also served as Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division, authorizing prosecutions, advising law enforcement agencies and supervising other prosecutors. He conducted numerous grand jury investigations and prosecuted a wide range of offenses, including fraud, theft, money laundering and other white collar matters. He also drafted appellate briefs and argued numerous cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

"Kirkland's premier litigation practice and its commitment to growing the white collar group make it an ideal platform for me at this point in my career," said Mr. DePippo. "I am excited to join the Firm and looking forward to working alongside my former colleague and friend Mike Garcia."

In 1994, Mr. DePippo was presented with the Attorney General's Award for Exceptional Service, the highest award bestowed by the U.S. Department of Justice. In 1991, he was awarded the Special Commendation for Outstanding Service by the Director of the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys.

Mr. DePippo holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as editor of the Georgetown Law Journal, and an A.B. from Cornell University.
