Overview

Meredith Zinanni is of counsel in Kirkland’s Chicago office, where she focuses on intellectual property litigation. In particular, Meredith has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in complex patent infringement litigation covering such varied technologies as semiconductor manufacturing, antimicrobial textiles, computer chip circuitry, LCD monitors, web-based data lookup, fluorescent light ballasts, remote device management, relational database structure, wireless data transmission and wireless communication standards.

Meredith has experience preparing pre-filing investigations; taking and defending depositions; managing document collection and written discovery; arguing motions; conducting both foreign and domestic third party discovery; drafting witness examination outlines for trial; and coordinating the day-to-day exchanges with opposing counsel at trial. Additionally, Meredith has written successful motions and briefs relating to claim construction, summary judgment, discovery, and case management issues, including invalidating the majority of claims in a patent on summary judgment, obtaining judgment as a matter of law of no willful infringement, and securing a stay on the eve of trial in the Eastern District of Texas. Meredith has litigated cases in the patent “rocket dockets” of the Northern District of California and the Eastern District of Texas as well as the District of Delaware and the Northern District of Illinois.

Meredith has also worked on trademark and breach of contract litigation matters, represented a client pro bono in an employment discrimination suit, and advised clients regarding advertising and software copyright issues.
