Alexandra Caritis is a partner in the Houston office. Her practice includes a broad range of complex commercial litigation and class action matters in federal and state courts. Alexandra has represented clients in litigation matters involving a wide range of practice areas including antitrust, bankruptcy, consumer protection, contract, and fraud. In addition to litigation matters, Alexandra represents and advises companies faced with government investigations and enforcement actions brought by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Representative Matters
Class Actions
Counsel for Juul Labs, Inc. in multi-jurisdiction litigation involving product liability, sales, marketing, and design claims.
Defended ABB Optical Group, the nation’s largest distributor of contact lenses, against price fixing allegations in a nationwide MDL class action.
Contract
Represented CM Energy in multiple litigations in the District of Delaware related to contractual disputes arising out of the purchase of a West Virginia coal mine.
Represented PetroStar Services, LLC in its defense of an action brought by a former employee of Colt Services, LLC, whose assets PetroStar acquired.
Restructuring
Represented the private equity sponsors and Sable Permian Resources, LLC (as operator of the oil and gas assets) in the successful completion of American Energy - Permain Basin, LLC’s $2.1 billion out-of-court recapitalization. The transaction reduced AEPB’s debt obligations by approximately $1.4 billion and reduced upcoming debt maturities over the next four years to approximately $36 million from approximately $2.1 billion. In addition, the transaction eliminated approximately $94 million of annual cash interest expense and simplified AEPB's organizational structure.
Represented Seadrill Limited and certain of its direct and indirect subsidiaries in its Chapter 11 cases filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. Seadrill's pre-arranged Chapter 11 cases, one of the largest filings in 2017 based on asset size, aims to re-profile approximately $6 billion of secured debt, reduce overall leverage, and facilitate a capital investment of more than $1 billion.
Represented an ad hoc committee of unsecured noteholders in the prepackaged Chapter 11 cases of Bonanza Creek Energy, Inc. in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
Trial counsel for Midstates Petroleum in contract and lien disputes over amounts allegedly owed for goods and services. Obtained a multi-million-dollar summary judgment for actual fraud against service provider.
Investigations and Enforcement
Developed an industry-leading workplace compliance program for a US-listed Fortune 500 company.
Counsel for major chemical and pharmaceutical corporations in regulatory enforcement actions.
Counsel in a DOJ/SEC investigation into corruption allegations involving a drilling company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Counsel for engineering firm in ongoing DOJ investigation in connection with government contracting issues.
