Application Process
Our Summer Associate Program application opens November 1, 2026.
- When submitting your application, indicate your primary office of interest and preferred practice group(s).
- Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis, and offers will be determined upon release of first-semester grades.
Kirkland’s 2028 2L Summer Program
Our 10-week program is designed to deliver practical, real-world experience and prepare you for life as a first-year associate.
- Learn from our attorneys through mentorship, hands-on collaboration and networking events.
- Leverage our open assignment system to explore opportunities that align with your interests and goals.
- If you accept a 2L 2028 summer associate offer, you will:
- Receive a $50,000 summer associate bonus.
- Have the option to participate in Kirkland’s 2027 1L summer experience.
Your 2027 1L Summer
Commit to joining Kirkland’s 2L Summer Associate Program and gain the flexibility to shape your 1L summer.
- Kirkland’s 1L Summer Experience: Four-week experience (six weeks in our Texas offices) designed to develop meaningful professional connections while gaining exposure to the breadth and diversity of our practice groups.
- Flexible Experience: Spend your 2027 1L summer gaining experience outside the Firm, whether through public service, a judicial internship or another opportunity that supports your goals.
