Jason Weingarten, Senior Hospitality Manager

Perspectives

Kirkland provides attorneys and clients with the same white-glove service you’d expect from a high-end hotel. It’s a great feeling when I’m able to deliver that kind of memorable experience.”
Jason Weingarten My Career Journey 2

Senior hospitality manager Jason Weingarten is rarely at his desk. On any given day, he’s finalizing catering logistics, organizing engagement events and client meetings, working with café staff on new menus or designing new meeting spaces. Jason, who’s been with Kirkland for eight years, works with his talented team to deliver a premium hospitality experience for the Firm’s attorneys, staff and clients.

What’s a typical day like in your role at Kirkland?

No day is the same on the hospitality team. I’m always working with new people and on different projects that I’m passionate about. I’m based in Kirkland’s New York office, but work across the Firm with our catering and guest services teams to plan and support events and meetings. This includes everything from planning our new associates’ first-day experience to finding efficiencies in the Kirkland café to partnering with colleagues to see how we can minimize waste.

What’s an aspect about your job people might be surprised to learn?

Probably the number of steps I get in each day! But more importantly, I think people would be surprised by the depth of the relationships I form with people, both internally and externally. It’s a great feeling when clients or attorneys from other offices return to the New York office and remember me and the team from their previous visit. It means that we’ve provided small but impactful moments that make a difference in peoples’ days.

How do you make a memorable impact on your peers and Firm clients?

Kirkland’s hospitality team provides attorneys and clients with the same white-glove service you’d expect from a high-end hotel.

How would you describe the Kirkland culture?

Kirkland’s culture is welcoming and engaging. Regardless of your role here, what you do matters. Working in a place where I’m both encouraged and challenged is incredibly fulfilling and makes me strive to go above and beyond every day.

What do you enjoy most about working at Kirkland?

The collaboration. We all share a “do whatever it takes” mentality. Every department works together to ensure our internal and external guests have a seamless, world-class experience.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?

“Stay hungry. Stay humble.” It’s something my manager at an international hotel group (my first job out of college) told me, and it’s always stayed with me. I actually have a sign with that phrase in my office to keep me focused.

How has Kirkland supported your career development?

Kirkland has offered me learning opportunities related to hospitality through both formal programs, such as LinkedIn Learning courses, and informal, hands-on learning. I’ve been able to be part of different guest services projects, which has allowed me to learn from my peers and their experiences. I have applied this knowledge and these lessons from over the years to my management style.
