American Civil Liberties Union LGBT and AIDS Project’s 10th Annual Summer Attorney Reception
Kirkland hosted the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) LGBT and AIDS Project’s 10th Annual Summer Attorney Reception on June 17, 2008. Nearly 500 members of the New York legal community, including partners, associates, and summer associates from dozens of firms, gathered in Kirkland's Conference Center to learn more about the Project’s work and to network with others interested in LGBT rights.
Kirkland partner Patrick Gallagher introduced ACLU AIDS Project Director Matt Coles who spoke to attendees about the Project's work. In addition to a cocktail reception, two clients of the Project provided their personal account of one of the "impact" lawsuits brought by the Project. The impact cases the Project brings in state and federal courts throughout the country are designed to have a significant effect on the lives of LGBT persons and those persons living with HIV/AIDS.
