86th Annual National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges

The National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges will hold its 86th Annual Conference from October 24-27, 2012 at the San Diego Marriott Marquis. The conference will examine the diverse business and consumer issues of the moment including Stern v. Marshall, sports bankruptcy, evidence, negotiation, appeals, group insolvency, Chapter 13, Chapter 15, the first year of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and macro-economic issues. Topics will include, "Coming to America…Broke: Chapter 15, Plain & Fancy," "Marriage Equality, Family Law and the Bankruptcy Code: Irreconcilable Differences?" and "Plan Confirmation Issues," among others.

Kirkland partner James H.M. Sprayregen will participate on two panels: "The Ethics of Organizers - Ethical Challenges in Forming Official and Unofficial Committees" and "Fiduciary Duty." Partner Anup Sathy will serve as a panelist addressing the topic "Sponsoring Subcommittees: Secured Creditors and Claims and Priorities."
