The 8th PanEuropean Intellectual Property Summit

The 8th PanEuropean Intellectual Property Summit will be held in Paris, France from December 9-11, 2013, at the Hôtel Potocki. This year’s IP Summit will address various issues of patents and trademarks and feature more than 100 high-level speakers. Kirkland & Ellis Partner, Jeanne Heffernan will be presenting on day three of the summit.

Ms. Heffernan will co-present a case study, discussing the protection of the trade dress design of a high-end designer bag. The presentation will address how the presenters successfully overcame a history of no enforcement and prevailed against a large number of infringers, as well as the interplay between the equitable doctrines of laches, estoppel, willful infringement, and injunctions. The presentation will also cover where to pursue enforcement in the U.S. - the federal courts or the state court systems.
