Legal Services Corporation 40th Anniversary Celebration

The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) celebrated its 40th anniversary with a legal aid conference from September 14-16, 2014, in Washington, D.C. More than 100 leaders of the legal community, government and the private sector attended.

The LSC is the largest organization providing civil legal services to low-income Americans. The nonprofit handles more than 750,000 cases each year, including domestic abuse and violence cases, family law and child custody disputes, veterans’ benefits and other government benefits issues.

Kirkland partner Mark Filip spoke at the conference about the LSC’s dedication to legal justice throughout its history. Other speakers included Vice President Joe Biden, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Elena Kagan, and Attorney General Eric Holder.
