Chicago’s Tax Strategies for Corporate Acquisitions, Dispositions, Spin-Offs, Joint Ventures, Financings, Reorganizations & Restructurings 2014
The Practicing Law Institute will hold its Tax Strategies for Corporate Acquisitions, Dispositions, Spin-Offs, Joint Ventures, Financings, Reorganizations & Restructurings 2014 from November 4-6 at the Intercontinental Chicago Magnificent Mile Hotel. The conference will focus on the tax issues presented by the entire spectrum of modern major corporate transactions, from relatively simple single-buyer acquisitions of a division or subsidiary to multi-party joint ventures, cross-border mergers, and complex acquisitions of public companies with domestic and foreign operations, including spin-offs and other dispositions of unwanted operations. Topics will include “Tax Accounting Issues in Mergers and Acquisitions” and “Current Issues in M&A,” among others.
Several Kirkland partners have been invited to speak at the event. Todd Maynes will present on the topic “Tax Strategies for Financially Troubled Businesses and Other Loss Companies,” Donald Rocap will address “Structuring Leveraged Buyouts” and partners Jeffrey Sheffield and Dean Shulman will participate as panelists discussing “Current Issues in Divisive Strategies - Spin-Offs.”
