Aladdin Benali

Since joining Kirkland, Aladdin has worked on the following matters: 

• TPG on its SFDR and EU Taxonomy compliance strategy in respect of the Rise Climate Fund and associated acquisitions.
• EQT on ESG and SFDR matters related to its flagship Future Fund.
• As part of K&E’s role as Global ESG Counsel to Blackstone, advised on a number of complex issues relating to climate risk regulation and market developments.

Prior to joining Kirkland, Aladdin worked on the following matters:

• Advising on human rights supply chain issues, Modern Slavery Act and reporting obligations for a range of multinational companies.
• Representing a large international bank managing shareholder climate activism and application of ESG standards.
• Advising a chemical industry company on the development of its green hydrogen and green ammonia businesses, covering environmental and international maritime law, permitting, shipping, port access, tankage and infrastructure development.
• Worked closely with clients on EU Artificial Intelligence Act and business risks and opportunities.
• Advising a large multinational bank in relation to launching of emissions trading desk.
• Advised on ESG issues in respect of a number of large private equity transactions including:
  • Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets on the acquisition of a majority stake in Southern Water Services Limited, over £1 billion in new equity to recapitalise Southern Water and implement a more sustainable financing strategy for the business.
  • Apollo Global Management, Inc. in acquisition of a majority stake in AS Graanul Invest, the largest producer of sustainable wood pellets in Europe.
  • Advising HP Inc. on acquisition of the HyperX gaming business from Kingston Technology Company, Inc.
