Overview

Aamira Brown is a litigation associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Her practice focuses on complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts. Aamira also maintains an active pro bono practice, including working with Kirkland’s guardian ad litem working group to support the Domestic Relations Branch of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

In her first year, Aamira served on a three-attorney team as a court-appointed guardian ad litem representing the best interest of a minor child in a custody dispute. After six months of investigation and fact development the case went to trial, where Aamira and co-counsel presented the case. Aamira conducted direct and cross examinations and gave the team’s closing argument. The court subsequently issued an order based on the team’s recommendations, resulting in a favorable outcome for the minor child.
