Edward Coates is an investment funds partner in the London office of Kirkland & Ellis International LLP and is also member of the Firm’s European Liquidity Solutions Team.
Edward’s practice primarily involves advising financial sponsors in relation to structuring, negotiating and documenting complex business transactions in the private funds secondary market, including traditional continuation vehicles.
Edward also has significant experience advising financial sponsors on broader private equity transactions; including direct buy-outs, minority stake investments, portfolio recapitalisations and related management equity incentive arrangements. Prior to joining Kirkland, Edward was an associate at a major US law firm and an international law firm, each based in London. Edward has also spent time as an associate working on secondment to Hong Kong and Paris.
